Artist Statement
I was chosen for my artistic talent. It is a gift which has allows me to explore limitless artistic possibilities whether by genre, medium, style or
technique. My curiosity with technology has transformed me from a traditional painter of florals and landscapes to an artist who explores the never-ending possibilities of artistic computer technology. I have always
been inspired by abstract expressionism.
After many years as a traditional fine artist, I did a professional paradigm
shift and changed my focus from painterly to digitally which further combined my interests in fine art, design, and computers. In my new work, I
learned to use computer technology as a more creative tool by first, designing my paintings digitally, before executing from paint-to-canvas.
In doing so, I learned to go from digital conceptualization to original creation. In other words, I think. conceptualize, create and executive. digitally first. Computer technology allows me to explore infinite design
possibilities in -- colors, shapes, textures, and details --before hand painting the original. Much like an architect preparing a rendition to show a client.
In essence, the digital creation becomes the true original and the hand painted original becomes a derivative of the digital design. There's an old art saying, "There can only be one original." And that's partially true since it's almost impossible to paint an original image more than once in the exact same way. With the new digital technology, each hand painted original (derivative) becomes a stand-alone original in itself.
