ARTISTS STATEMENT

The act of creation has and always will be an act of courage and freedom. There must be an immediate component in the creative act and so it needs materials that respond instantly to the wish to see something tangible! In my work I favour acrylics above all: they are fast, clean and effective. I use colors to represent the mysterious universe: black is the main color, the depth, infinity, which is then complemented by small streaks of other colors.

This exercise on photography, as the basis for producing a final image, means that using the image of a particular work, whether a portrait or a group of figures, it is recreated by superimposing the painting. I fragment, synthesize, reconstruct and reinterpret the world’s pictorial tradition.

I meddle in your tranquility. As I do it I challenge you to query what I am about to show you, to fulfill the main function of art: to question yourself. In this case I do it by combining two ages; the age of permanence, when I allow classicism to survive, and the age of modernity with which I clothe them, ending with the Swarovski crystal incrustations that aid in their delivery. Past and present are united and combine the meaning of all that is new and singular. I want to create art from art, forcing the classical to become contemporary.

The lines create a visual timelessness in impossible planes, geometries that reveal the original composition of the work. They are biographies where the pictorial language will construct, deconstruct or reconstruct the history of an apparently obscure universe of lusterless symbols but which begs to be revealed using the information given about each piece.

I enjoy manipulating the images and so creating a narrative: “The story of satire”. Humor is always useful.
