About Denis Rodier:

Born in 1946 in Dreux (France)  he starts his artistic career at the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Rouen where he is a student in René Leleu's workshop, Prix de Rome 1939 (from 1965 to 1970). After a sculpture diploma, he becomes art director and designer and lives his young years in Paris in the uproar of the Latin quarter, the arts community and art galleries. Drawing enthusiast and attracted by volume, he devotes most exclusively his time and sets up his own workshop in 1997.

Very rapidly his works get oriented towards private and public orders especially for portraits. Attracted by morphology he retook courses with J.F. Debord (from 1997 to 2003) at the  ENSBA in Paris, he then taught for a few years this raw material that he is so fond of, as well as sketch of nude and drawing.  Esthete and romantic, his experience allows him to treat all great sculpture themes, portraits, statuary, animal sculptures and composition.  Since 2000 he lives between Paris and the south of France and participates at art exhibitions like the Salons de la Société des Artistes Français and the Société Nationale des Beaux-arts as well as numerous collective exhibitions regional or national. With overseas foray in particular in Morocco. More than ever, he remains very attached to classical artistic culture, and to artists of his youth, Rembrandt, Carpeaux, Houdon, Rodin that have always motivated in his mind a certain idea of a demanding aesthetic.
