About Drew Kidd | United States
Drew Kidd - Is a Photographer, Painter, Graphic Designer, Sculptor, Installation Artist, Illustrator and Musician. With 36 group and solo exhibitions starting in 1994 in NYC, Cincinnati Ohio, Covington & Newport Kentucky.
He believes that the viewing experience requires more interactions for the artwork to sink in and have a strong, lasting effect on people. Drew was one of the founding members of and actively involved with the S.U.N. Arts Co. & the Gelato! Art Collectives in NYC. Studied at the Art Students League, Art Institute of Cincinnati, Mount St. Joseph University, a former Student Photography Society member and AIGA student member.
His work consists of several styles: Abstract Expression through Acrylic paints or Ink pens representing either emotional states with no particular form or subject matter, or representing the human form or nature. Graphic Illustration Portraits in monochrome with hard edges on a white background or placed on a single or multi-colored background. Hand drawn then refined digitally. Landscapes & Portraits using Oil or Acrylic paints.
Installations have consisted mostly of large sheets of colored paper curled over to create shapes over large areas. Within these areas other artists have displayed their works creating "3 dimensional collaborations" between Drew and the other artist(s) and where the viewer can actually walk into these "environments" and become part of the installation.
