About M. Gasby Brown
In July of 2002 she began to paint. “For several months, I had a recurring dream  about painting trees and other objects. Even when I was awake, the images of painting were vivid and continued to invade my thoughts”, Gasby recalls. She made the courageous decision to align the vision with reality and started her new journey. Her first painting was indeed, a tree. Entirely self–taught and inspired by visions, dreams and ideas, Gasby has become a prolific artist, capturing a variety of genres including abstract, realism and expressionism extracted from her life experiences and world view. She has been commissioned by international and national organizations to create images for projects and events.

Since embarking on her artistic journey, her works have been included in exhibits
with renowned artists such as James Denmark, Joseph Holston, Ted Ellis and Paul Goodnight. Her debut art show in Washington DC, NO PERMISSION NEEDED 2004,
was a rousing success. Gasby’s work is presently featured in Amber Tree Art Gallery at National Harbor; and has exhibited at venues including the National Black Fine Arts Show in New York City; Visions Gallery of Georgetown in Washington, D.C.; Just Lookin’ Gallery in Hagerstown, MD; Art & Framing Gallery in Fort Washington, MD; and Women's History Month in Prince George's County Maryland. Private owners of her art span from California to Boston, Canada to the Caribbean and include celebrities, corporate executives, business, civic, government, religious leaders, and art lovers in general.
