About Eddy Bogaert
I am a New York City based artist with a lot of passion.
When I was growing up I was taken from a city to another quite often and that has had a deep effect on my art.. The perceived chaos, the uncertainty that I felt is now revealed only when I shine a certain light on the canvas. There is a release of color everywhere with no certain stroke or direction, yet subconsciously sending a subliminal message. I paint on the roof or outside, I wear my art on my jacket with a message hiding within. I literally wear it on my sleeve.
My paintings often insert beautiful women buried in the overall context of the scene and they are there because I feel they add humanity to the abstract soul of my work.
Every artist needs a story.. A depth of pain for others to relate to. We all feel alone and lost at moments in our lives. Bu we must also see the beauty in it , the strength that solitude can give us. My art is full of vibrant colors covering a dark or a blank base. There is a lawlessness, an anarchy, and a discord in it that beauty itself gets cemented and almost vanishes within the turmoil.
Could it symbolize a longing for my mother or my desperate need for love? I believe every artist has a story that makes you feel at ease with yourself and your soul.

“The stairwell at Cibo was given over to a young painter named Eddy Bogaert, who gave one-on-one tours in which he held forth at length on his vision and technique. Here, one might say, is the less commercial, more “authentic” artistic experience.”
