ABOUT REUVEN WALLACK

Reuven Wallack is an American artist, born in

1974. His artistic purpose is to let the unconscious
come out, which stems from his formal training in
non-clinical Theoretical Psychoanalysis. His
interest in the discipline inspires his work greatly,
as his most acclaimed pieces are those that he has
created while in a ‘non-thinking’ state. Wallack
characterizes his oil paintings as Post-
Expressionist and, although he has yet to find a
term to stylistically define his drawings, the
entirety of his work reflects his need to let out
the innermost thoughts and emotions that he
himself can only grasp through art.



ARTIST STATEMENT

Over this past year, my art has abruptly changed.
Plain and simple, I was looking for a
way to get stronger color than what I was getting
from my oils. In fact, to get the strong
color with oils that I wanted, I painted thick
primarily ‘straight out of the tube.’ However,
I also wanted more detail and precision. Color
pencils, I found, were the answer in both
regards. It was a way to successfully move forth
with what I believe to be my greatest
skill as an artist....this being color.
My collection of color pencil drawings measure
both the abstract and the figurative. Still
life images pop in-and-out. Now, I’m moving to
more abstract themes using figurative
expos similar to Basquait. My color pencil work
has simply been a journey which I’m

incredibly enjoying.
